-
You will need some yarn that will not fray
and a size 4 mm / length 80 cm circular needle.
-
Cast on 100 stitches using a single "half
hitch cast on" (or whatever you like).
-
Prepare to close the circle making sure all
stitches are straight and that there are no twists in the circle of stitches.
-
Now make a half twist so that you will be
knitting into the bottoms of the cast on stitches! It appears bizarre but
it works!
-
Knit one round in a reversible pattern, such
as seed stitch (K1 P1 K1 P1), making sure you are knitting into the bottoms
of the stitches. The new stitches stay on the needle and the needle cord
ends up wrapping around twice holding 200 stitches.
-
When you get back to the beginning of the
round, knit into the stitches on the needle still using your chosen
pattern. If you choose a seed pattern, make sure that you knit over pearl
stitches and pearl over knit stitches. The first few rounds are hard to
do but if you persist it gets easier.
-
Keep knitting in this way until you reach
the desired width. The stitches you started with will be in the middle.
-
It's all quite strange and takes a lot of
patience ... so good luck!
