There may be more than one way to solve this problem. Here's mine:

  1. Cross with the duck, leaving the fox and the corn behind. These two are unlikely to eat each other!
  2. Leave the duck on the east bank, and return alone.
  3. Cross with the fox.
  4. Return to the west bank bringing the duck back with you - you don't want to leave it alone with the fox!
  5. Leave the duck on the west bank again, and cross with the corn.
  6. Leave the fox and corn on the east bank, and return alone.
  7. Finally, pick up the duck, and cross back. You are now on the east bank, with the fox, duck and corn - all safe and sound!
